Tito Horford, Father of Celtics Star Al Horford, Leaves Legacy on and Off Court

Former NBA Player and Coach Inspires Family and Community

Basketball Roots Run Deep for Horford Family

Tito Horford, the father of Boston Celtics star Al Horford, has played a pivotal role in the development of his son's basketball career and in his community. As a former NBA player and coach, Horford has instilled a deep love and understanding of the game in Al.

Born in La Romana, Dominican Republic, Tito Horford was a standout basketball player in his own right. Drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in 1988, he played four seasons in the NBA before embarking on a successful coaching career.

As a coach, Horford led the Dominican Republic national team to several international victories, including a silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics. He also coached his son Al at Grand Ledge High School in Michigan, where Al was named a McDonald's All-American before going on to play at the University of Florida.

Beyond basketball, Tito Horford has dedicated himself to giving back to his community. He established the Tito Horford Foundation, which provides educational and athletic opportunities for underprivileged youth in the Dominican Republic. The foundation has built schools, playgrounds, and athletic facilities, helping countless children pursue their dreams.

Tito Horford's legacy extends far beyond the basketball court. As a father, coach, and mentor, he has inspired countless young people to reach their full potential both on and off the court.
