Rangers Clinch Eastern Conference Finals Berth With Comeback Win
Alexis Lafreniere, Artemi Panarin Lead Comeback Victory
The New York Rangers rallied back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Washington Capitals 4-2 in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Friday night, clinching a berth in the Stanley Cup Final. Alexis Lafreniere led the way for the Rangers with three goals and two assists, while Artemi Panarin added a goal and two assists.
The Rangers fell behind 2-0 in the first period, but they rallied back in the second period with two goals from Lafreniere and one from Panarin. The Rangers then took the lead in the third period when Lafreniere completed his hat trick with a power-play goal.
The Capitals pulled their goalie with just over two minutes remaining in the game, but the Rangers were able to hold on for the victory. Henrik Lundqvist made 35 saves for the Rangers, while Braden Holtby made 29 saves for the Capitals.
The Rangers will now face the Western Conference champion in the Stanley Cup Final. The series is set to begin on Monday night in New York.
