Espionage Trial of American Journalist Evan Gershkovich Moves Forward

The espionage trial of Evan Gershkovich, the imprisoned reporter for The Wall Street Journal, is moving forward. Gershkovich, the first American journalist to be arrested on espionage charges in Russia since the Cold War, appeared in court on Wednesday.
Gershkovich, born October 26, 1991, was detained in Russia on March 29, 2023, while working for The Wall Street Journal. He is the American-born son of Soviet-era émigrés.
